Zephyr TS will enable traditional traffic sign producers to complement their analog production equipment and will offer them faster turnaround, more flexibility with regards to production planning, stock levels and last but not least, will enable them to reduce their environmental footprint.

Easy-to-use and delivered as a total solution (including workstation and RIP software), Zephyr TS significantly reduces production workflow steps compared to manual sign making methods.

From one-offs and short runs to long run production, Mutoh’s Zephyr TS successfully creates traffic signs with brilliant colours, meeting the colour box and retro-reflectivity requirements.

Unique High Gloss print modes for traffic signage were specifically developed to immediately address the reflectivity requirements and colour specifications required for traffic sign production. The high gloss print modes at the same time give the prints a unique glossy & attractive appearance — a feature not available in competitive UV traffic sign printers.
Zephyr TS will deliver production speeds up to 28 m²/h (full width printing).

Zephyr TS — a Certified Solution

Production of road traffic signs is a very specific application for which critical and specific regulations need to be met with regards to colours, reflectivity and UV fading.

Zephyr TS is the result of a development cooperation between Mutoh and Nippon Carbide Industries Co., Inc., Japan, which resulted in adapting the Mutoh Zephyr UV platform for printing directly onto Nippon Carbide’s Nikkalite® retroreflective sheeting, using Mutoh’s specially formulated Zephyr TS traffic sign inks.

The combination of Zephyr TS printer, retroreflective media, Zephyr UV traffic sign ink and UV protection overlay film fulfills the European standard for fixed vertical road traffic signs (EN-12899-1:2007).

Traffic signs produced on a Zephyr TS have an outdoor durability of up to 10 years when laminated with the recommended Nikkalite® overlay film.
